Getting more police officers onto our streets was one of the priorities I was elected on, and so I am delighted that in just over one year, this Conservative Government has already delivered an extra 132 officers across Nottinghamshire.
From my regular meetings with Gedling’s Neighbourhood Policing Inspector, I know that over 25 new officers are already making an enormous difference on the streets of Gedling, Arnold, Mapperley, Burton Joyce, Colwick, Netherfield, Stoke Bardolph and Carlton by tackling burglars, car thieves and shoplifters and Gedling’s new ‘Operation Reacher’ teams are smashing down drug dealers’ doors
Every one of these officers is helping to cut crime and keep people safe – and I know that many more will follow as this Government continues to deliver on its promise to recruit 20,000 more over the next three years.
By backing our police with the funding, powers and the resources they need, this Government is keeping the public and our communities safe, so that Gedling residents can live our lives free from the fear of crime.
Since the launch of the Government’s recruitment campaign one year ago, a total of 6,620 extra officers have joined police forces across England and Wales.
