This week is the fourth week of Parliamentary recesses and last week I enjoyed working across Gedling. My activities included:
Speaking with the Arts Council regarding their work in Gedling, which has included funding jazz at Arnold's Bonnington Theatre and touring performing arts in Burton Joyce.
Listening to a briefing from the Secretary of State for Defence on the situation in Afghanistan and the Government's work to get our people and those who helped us out of Kabul.
Taking part in a Teams meeting with the Foreign Secretary on Afghanistan.
Visiting the family fun day event at Coppice Lodge Care Home. I didn't win anything on the raffle but the ice-cream was delicious and it was great to chat with local residents and their families.
Attending Parliament for the debate on the situation in Afghanistan.
Chatting with and assisting Mapperley residents during my weekly summer surgery tour.
Collecting signatures for a petition calling on Nottinghamshire County Council to install a zebra crossing in Digby Avenue, making it easier for children and residents to cross between the Westdale Lane schools and Digby Park.
Attending the 'Welcome back locals' event at The Nelson Burton Joyce, which is under the new management of Poppy and Mo.
Tomorrow marks will mark the inaugural Nottinghamshire Day, an annual celebration of our historic County, its heritage and culture. I am looking forward to attending the flag raising ceremony at Nottinghamshire County Council where I will be celebrating all that Gedling and Nottinghamshire has to be proud of.
