During the 2016 EU referendum and the 2019 General Election, Gedling residents made it clear that they want us to take back control of our borders. This Conservative Government has has already ended free movement and introduced a points based immigration system but will now go further.
Yesterday, the Home Secretary set out her plan for a digital revolution of our borders as part of our New Plan for Immigration. These new reforms at the UK border will:
Introduce a new electronic travel authorisation allowing us act quickly to deny entry to foreign criminals, precisely count people in and out of the UK, make the system easier to navigate for businesses, and streamline the process of coming to the UK legally.
The Government will also continue to clamp down on people smugglers and the criminal gangs behind illegal migration, making our borders secure and delivering on the people priorities.
