The Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Rt Hon Jesse Norman MP, has encouraged businesses across Gedling to take advantage of the Government’s unprecedented package of support as they re-open.
Last week, Gedling MP Tom Randall was speaking with shop owners in Arnold about the Government’s ‘Restart Grants’ and encouraging them to apply.
During yesterday’s questions to the Treasury, Tom Randall MP said: “The Borough of Gedling has received more than £105,000 ‘Welcome Back’ funding to help its high streets re-open safely and successfully as restrictions lift. I will be out visiting businesses in Gedling on Friday to encourage them to apply for ‘Restart Grants’”
Tom Randall MP went on to ask the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Rt Hon Jesse Norman MP: “Will my Right Honourable Friend join me in not only welcoming these lifelines for businesses but in encouraging businesses to apply for all the help available so that they can get back on their feet as we start to get back to normal?”
In reply, the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Rt Hon Jesse Norman MP said: “I salute the people of Carlton and I rejoice in the businesses of Mapperley. I encourage businesses across the constituency of Gedling to take advantage of the Government’s unprecedent package of support, including the £5 billion-worth of grant support that the Chancellor announced at Budget, which is providing a lifeline for businesses as they re-launch their trading safely.”
Commenting after, Tom said: “Our high street across Gedling have had a difficult year due to lockdown closures and I am pleased many have been supported during that by Government business grants.
“It has been fantastic to see shops across Gedling re-opening since the lifting of restrictions and I visited businesses in Arnold last week to make them aware of the Government’s new Restart Grant, which non-essential retail businesses that are re-opening in April 2021 may be eligible for. These are grant payments up to £6,000 and businesses in the retail, hospitality, leisure, personal care and gym sectors may be eligible for grant payments up to £18,000.
“I look forward to visiting businesses in Carlton and Mapperley on Friday to encourage them to apply for this additional grant funding.”
The Conservative Government’s new Restart Grant, which non-essential retail businesses that are re-opening in April 2021 may be eligible for, are grant payments up to £6,000 and businesses in the retail, hospitality, leisure, personal care and gym sectors may be eligible for grant payments up to £18,000.
