This week is the fifth and final week of Parliamentary recesses and last week I enjoyed working across Gedling. My activities included:
Listening to a briefing by Minister for the Armed Forces James Heappey, Minister for Immigration Kevin Foster and Minister for the Commonwealth, Lord Ahmad on the situation in Afghanistan
Collecting signatures for a petition calling on Nottinghamshire County Council to install a zebra crossing in Digby Avenue, making it easier for children and residents to cross between the Westdale Lane schools and Digby Park.
Hosting a site visit and meeting at the former Gedling School with Nottinghamshire County Council and Gedling Borough Council, to discuss options of opening up part of the site to public use.
Attending the Nottinghamshire Day flag raising ceremony to celebrate what makes Gedling and Nottinghamshire a great place to live, work and raise a family.
Joining a briefing call with the Defence Secretary on Afghanistan.
Meeting East Midlands Railway to discuss their timetable for stations across Gedling in Carlton, Netherfield and Burton Joyce. They will be publishing a new timetable shortly which will be subject to a public consultation. I will share this once it is launched, so that our voices and needs can be heard for a better service throughout Gedling.
Chatting with and assisting Gedling village residents during my weekly Summer Street Surgery tour.
Today, I am hosting a meeting with Nottinghamshire County Council leaders about a fourth Trent crossing in Colwick. If delivered, it would create jobs, jobs, jobs for Gedling residents, ease traffic congestion and link us up to the A52 and A46.
Enjoy your week.
