Gedling Borough Conservative Councillor John Parr of the Plains Ward recently ran a competition in the NG5 magazine to name the new pathway that links Arnold to Gedling Country Park and, alongside the licensee of the Arrow pub Sue, I was honoured to be asked to be one of the judges of this competition.
The winning name is: The Plains Pathway.
There were lots of very good entries and making a final decision was difficult. Thank you to everyone who took part and congratulations to Arnold resident Mick Abbott who wins a £50 meal at the Arrow pub for suggesting the winning name.
The walkway next to Gedling Road was developed in conjunction with the new Gedling Access Road and is well used by walkers and cyclists. From his Councillor Community Fund, Councillor John Parr recently funded the installation of new benches along the path, allowing people to sit down and enjoy the stunning views.
The licensee of the Arrow pub, Sue Pincott said “I am very pleased to help the community by providing support in the naming of this very important pathway. Congratulations to all that took part and I look forward to meeting the winners and providing them with a well deserved meal.”
