Gedling’s MP Tom Randall had the honour of introducing the Head Teacher of Pinewood Infant School, Rachel Otter, to the Minister of State for School in Number 10, last week.
Speaking after the Downing Street reception, Tom Randall MP, who attended Pinewood Infant School as a child himself, said: “Rachel and the team at Pinewood in Arnold help every child reach their potential and the school has recently retained its Outstanding Ofsted rating - it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to thank Rachel and her team for contributing to improving standards.”
Minister of State for Schools, Rt Hon Damian Hinds MP said: "It was wonderful to meet so many brilliant teachers from across the country at Downing Street last week. Rachel Otter is a real champion in Gedling, and it was a real pleasure to celebrate their vital work alongside Tom Randall MP."
Posting about the Downing Street reception on Pinewood Infant School’s Facebook page, Head Teacher Rachel Otter said: “An amazing experience no matter what your political views are - to be nominated by our local MP to go to number 10 Downing Street for a reception for ‘community education champions’ with the Minister for Education is pretty special and is a testament to our fabulous Pinewood team. It was very interesting.
“There is no question that without the amazingness of the Pinewood team and the quality of education we provide this opportunity would not have been granted. Thank you to Tom Randall MP for recognising that small fish in big ponds also make a difference!”
