On Monday 23rd October, Tom Randall MP visited 5 households on Bentwell Avenue in Arnold that were sadly flooded over the weekend and I spoke to the residents and offered my support to them.
A lagoon is nearby which is supposed to help prevent Bentwell Avenue from flooding but it is devastating that flooding continues to be a risk. Tom will therefore be:
✍🏻Contacting Nottinghamshire County Council, who are the lead flood authority, and asking them to carry out an assessment on the cause of last weekends flooding at Bentwell Avenue;
❓Asking Gedling Borough Council, who are responsible for maintaining the lagoon, when they last cleared out the lagoon and carried out maintenance work and what their maintenance plan includes; and
🏗️Asking Gedling Borough Council’s Planning Department to inspect the drainage on the housing development site that is in construction on Rolleston Drive as a lack of drainage on the site may be pushing water-runoff onto Bentwell Avenue.
Tom Randall MP will be keeping households along Bentwell Avenue updated on the responses from both Gedling Borough and Nottinghamshire County Councils.
Further rainfall is expected across Gedling this week. You can check for flood warnings and alerts here: https://www.gov.uk/check-flooding
