I am proud to have supported the East Midlands Freeport bid which was submitted to Government yesterday.
The East Midlands has put forward a compelling proposition based around East Midlands Airport and Gateway Industrial Cluster in North West Leicestershire, Uniper's Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station site in Rushcliffe and the East Midlands Intermodal Park in South Derbyshire.
A Freeport in our region will:
Increase investment in key sectors such as manufacturing and logistics
Level up Gedling with more job opportunities and higher wages
Boost trade opportunities for businesses in Gedling and across the East Midlands
Provide opportunities for carbon neutral investment and our green recovery
Increase productivity and local innovation
This bid will benefit Gedling and has my full support. I will continue to work with colleagues to encourage investment in Gedling and the East Midlands.
